Hyderabad: Sunil Kant Munjal, Chairman, Hero Enterprise and member executive board, ISB, spoke on his book, 'The Making of Hero' and brought some of his inspiring and interesting experiences and success stories that shaped up the Hero Group, here on Friday on Indian School of Business premises.

Govindraj Ethiraj, Founder, India Spend and BOOMLive moderated the discussion with Sunil Kant Munjal, Shobana Kamineni, Executive Vice Chairperson, Apollo Hospitals and Prof Madan Pillutla, Dean, ISB on the occasion.

Sunil kant munjal, said, "Hero group adopted family values to business values. It believed in two principles. One is to look people as one of the most valuable assets and secondly, learning and mistakes always add an appreciation to the business as a whole while rest others depreciates. Hero group always believes in participation, where it collaborated with Honda and made partnerships, even for making a single machine. For setting up of any outlet/operation/factory, Hero built an entire ecosystem, for example schools, hospitals, training centers for women. Lately the company has shifted focused to art and culture school, where India is lacking.

This book is a testimony to all the deeds of our family including employees at all levels, and a continuation to the strong base of values, which matters the most in state of business. These values are not for measuring how much you grow. The way India is developing is unfathomable. Currently, innovation is driving India and younger generation has more opportunities compared to past generations."

"Hero is built together with a great spirit, they stood as an example, to how many people you could make a difference and give a hope with your business. Even Apollo, runs on core values, where we built one of the biggest health services in the middle of Hyderabad and expanded our services with 50 hospitals in just 10 years. In this new age, technology is playing a vital role in framing future including professional services," Shobana Kamineni, Executive Vice Chairperson, Apollo Hospitals, said.

Madan Pillutla, Dean, Indian School of Business, said, "The book is worth reading. Particularly one story struck me, which explains the significance of guiding principles. They allow you to make decisions quickly and help in rapid growth by maintaining core values of business. The Hero group is built on such guiding principles and has a depth to enthuse the next generation."
